Lyrics

you can't see me... no light

one of the most life changing songs i've ever heard was welcome to the black parade by my chemical romance. MCR for short.

to me, lyrics is how musicians communicate with their fans and people from around the world. some people think music is "just noise" whereas, i bet to differ. a good song is where the lyrics and the tune is AWESOME. when i first heard the song welcome to the black parade, i was blown away. the tune itself was dramatic, intense and really theatrical. the lyrics, was AMAZING. they were sending their message out through their music, and in my opinion, it's a lot louder and better then a speech.

music does save people's lives. a good band or singer, is the kind where they can save lives through their work. which is why i say lyrics are important.

take this song for example.

WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE-MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE

*when i was a young boy
my father took me into the city
to see a marching band
he said son when you grow up
would you be the savior of the broken
the beaten and the damned?*
he said will you defeat them
your demons
and all the non-believers
the plans that they have made?

because one day
i'll ieave you a phanthom
to lead you in the summer
to join the black parade

repeat *

sometimes i get the feeling
she's watchin over me
and other times i feel like i should go

and through it all
the rise and fall
the bodies on the streets
and when your gone
we want you all to know-

-chorus
we'll carry on
we'll carry on
and though you're dead and gone believe me
your memory will carry on
we'll carry on

and in my heart i can't explain it
the anthem won't explain it

a world that send you reeling
from decimated dreams
your misery and hate will kill us all

so paint it black and take it back
let's shout it loud and clear
defiant to the end we hear the call

to carry on
-repeat chorus
and though you're broken and defeated
your weary widow marches

on and on we carry through the fears
disappointed faces of your peers
take a look at me
'cause i could not care at all

do or die
you'll never make me
because the world
will never take my heart
go and try
you'll never break me
we want it all
we want to play this part

i wont explain or say im sorry
im unashamed im gonna show my scar
give a cheer for all the broken
listen here
BECAUSE IT'S WHO WE ARE

im just a man
im not a hero
just a boy who had to sing this song
im just a man
im not a hero
I DON'T CARE

-repeat chorus 2x
and though your broken and defeated
your weary widow marches on
WE'LL CARRY ON

the songs in the whole album, The Black Parade tells a tale of a cancer patient who's gone through life, and death. and well, the journey after death. instead of goin to heaven or hell, the patient goes to the place where he has the fondest memory of-a marching band he once went to with his father.

in the video, you see the patient dying and being welcomed into the parade. he goes through it all and then Gerard Way-the vocalist gives him a medal. the medal is a symbol of the patient completing his life.

to me, this song tells me, and most likely a dozen more kids to NOT be afraid to be who you are. express yourself, stand up for yourself, live your life, and learn to accept death and failures.

to sum it up, lyrics really does make up the song. lyrics is where musicians send their message out. lyrics are interesting because you can get to decipher the hidden meanings in it. just like poetry.
